Make Room for Holiday Pics in Just a Few Clicks!

As we gear up for the holiday season, now is the perfect time to give your photo stream a quick clean up! 

Chances are, it’s filled with hundreds, or even thousands of duplicates, screenshots, and random videos taking up precious space. All it takes is a few clicks to clear the clutter, making room for all those holiday photos you will surely take in the coming weeks!

STEP #1- DELETE DUPLICATES

We often take multiple photos of the exact same moment, which creates a ton of digital clutter! Deleting duplicates is probably the easiest and best way to clean up your photo stream! 

iPhone Directions: 

1. Open the Photos app from your phone 
2. Click "Albums" from the menu at the bottom of your screen
3. Scroll down to the "Utilities" section and click on "Duplicates"
4. Delete your duplicates line by line or all at once

Google Photos Directions:
Unfortunately, Google Photos does not have an option to delete duplicates in mass quantities but it's still possible!  

1. Open Google Photos from your phone 
2. Click "Photos" at the bottom of your screen
3. Scroll through and find multiple copies one set at a time
4. Find your favorite of the set and delete the rest- don't overthink this process or you won't make much progress

STEP #2- DELETE SCREENSHOTS

Screenshots are a quick and easy way to capture information from an email, text or even the internet. And while we need that information in the moment, once it's passed we can get rid of all those photos taking up space on our phone!

iPhone Directions: 

1. Open the Photos app from your phone 
2. Click "Albums" from the menu at the bottom of your screen
3. Scroll down to the "Media Types" section and click on "Screenshots"
4. Delete any/all screenshots you don't need/want anymore

Google Photos Directions: 

1. Open Google Photos from your phone 
2. Click "Search" at the bottom of your screen
3. Type "Screenshots" in the search bar at the top of your screen
4. Delete any/all screenshots you don't need/want anymore

STEP #3- DELETE VIDEOS 

Videos take up quite a bit of storage on your phone, so deleting the ones you don’t need is an easy way to free up space!

iPhone Directions: 

1. Open the Photos app from your phone 
2. Click "Albums" from the menu at the bottom of your screen
3. Scroll down to the "Media Types" section and click on "Videos"
4. Delete any videos you don't need/want anymore

Google Photos Directions: 

1. Open Google Photos from your phone 
2. Click "Collections" at the bottom of your screen
3. Scroll down to find and open the "Videos" section
4. Delete any videos you don't need/want anymore

Taking a few minutes to clean up your photo stream will prevent the dreaded “Storage is Full” alert as you're capturing special moments with your loved ones this holiday season!
